What are ‘Sculpting injections’?
Often we see patients with stubborn pockets of fat which they are finding difficult to shift. A great way to reduce or remove this fat is by injecting a fat dissolving agent such as Aqualyx directly into the fatty areas. The agent works by attaching to fatty deposits, breaking them down over time. The fat is then naturally dissolved and flushed out by the body via the lymphatic system.
During the treatment a medical professional will administer a series of injections into the area that needs treating, it can take between fifteen minutes to one hour depending on the area.
It is important to note that this is not a liposuction treatment and is more suited to people who wish to remove stubborn pockets of fat as opposed to reducing large volumes of fat.
For the double chin one session may be enough in some clients but most clients and areas require a minimum of 3 sessions spaced one month apart.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?
Aqualyx can be used in the face and body to great effect. Common areas which we treat are:
- Face: Jowls, double chin
- Body: Abdomen, arms, legs, hips (love handles), back ‘bra fat’
For small areas such as the jowls and chin, just one sessions can dramatically reduce fat deposits and return a more youthful and defined facial contour. For larger areas like tummies, bingo wings and bums you may need up to 5 sessions to see results.
How Soon Can I See Results?
You will see the results in about 3 to 5 weeks from the first session. At the end of the three sessions we typically see around 20-24% weight loss in the area treated ( provided your diet and exercise regime does not change since pre-treatment). This weight loss is permanent as the old fat cells are destroyed. However this does not mean new ones cannot be formed in that area.
Does it Hurt?
Some people feel a stinging sensation as the solution begins to work, but it should not be too painful. We also mix the Aqualyx solution with Lidocaine ( numbing agent) in order to minimise pain. Topical lidocaine is also available on request.
What are the side effects/ risks?
Post treatment you will experience some redness and swelling in the affected area. This usually subsides within 24 hours but can take up to one week to resolve. Other side effects can include: bruising, bleeding, infection, soreness at the injection site.
